Oops, I meant the NHD-C12832A1Z-FSW-FBW-3V3 display. I had the wrong data sheet open when I copied the PN.

    Hi Steven,

Adding a polycarbonate cover glass over the display is a common solution to help protect the display from external forces that may cause damage to the display.  Keep in mind that adding any cover glass material over the display may result in causing additional glare or unwanted reflections that may interfere with the image being displayed.  To reduce the level of glare or reflections, keep the air gap small between the LCD and the polycarbonate. Keeping the poly cover glass thickness small will also help.

    Best Regards,

    Hi Ted,

Thanks for the reply. The problem is, the block could be up to a half inch or so thick.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I went back to the "drawing board" It may only need to be a 1/4" to 3/8" thick.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steven,

You should be ok with that thickness as long as there is very little air gap between the display and the polycarbonate.

    Hi Ted,

Thanks for the info. I will continue with the design. Another question. What is the value of the LED limiting resistor on the NHD-PCB12832A1Z breakout board? Kinda hard to read value in photo.

Just a thought, would it be safe to glue the polycarb block to the display face?

    Hi Steven,

The LED resistor value is 10 Ohms.

Using a double sided VHB tape around the perimeter of the display to attach the polycarb block would be a better solution. Any liquids that enter the display may become visible in the image or permanently damage the display.

    Thanks Ted,

I was thinking of something like canopy glue. Its a form of white gule that dries clear.
