    Hello Daniel,

Thank you for your interest in Newhaven Displays!

Can you provide one or multiple photos of your overall setup? (Arduino Uno + NHD-FT81x-SHIELD + NHD-5.0-800480FT-CTXL-CTP)

It is possible the display is not receiving ample power to fully boot up. Are you powering the Arduino Uno via USB or an external power supply?

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Best Regards,

    Cody J.

    Hi Cody,

    Thanks for the help!
I am powering it through USB, here is my set up:

That last photo was with it powered off. When powered on the screen is steady white.
I just tried adding external power supply on the 5v pins on the Arduino and the screen is now steady black (with a kind of dark blue tint). It looks like the external power supply might have fixed something!

    Daniel,

Thank you for providing the photo.

You mentioned adding external power to the 5V and GND pins on the Arduino. Can you try adding external power to the VIN and GND pins? (Circled in red in the image below)

Due to current limitations of USB input, we recommend a DC power supply always be connected to the Arduino's DC input. This recommendation is noted on page 5 of the NHD-FT81x-SHIELD user guide.

Is it possible for you to provide external power to the Arduino Uno's DC jack? Arduino's accept 7-12V power. Please make sure the power supply can provide at least 1A of output current.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

    Best Regards,

    Cody J.
