NHD-4.3-480272EF (TFT + touch) evaluation kit
This is my first post, so hello to everybody here in the forum!
We are looking at a TFT PCAP 4.3" display, in particular the family NHD-4.3-480272EF that seems very good for us (so far, no matter about brightness and viewing angle). This would be our first project with a TFT display.
From its datasheet, I understood it has two cables, one 40-pin for the TFT control and one 6-pin for the touch panel control, and this sounds ok to me.
What I would like to understand and do is to build, or to buy if available, an "evaluation kit" made of this NHD-4.3-480272EF touch display and some already-made electronics with some already-made example code to run and test both the touch and TFT performances.
Then we could start playing with this example to make our own piece of code, before starting designing our own board.
The big question is what should we buy to do this?
I saw there are some "controller boards" (NHD-4.3-480272MF-20 or -34) and a also "development board" (NHDev v2.0) with some downloadable examples, but from the datasheets I wasn't able to tell that the NHD-4.3-480272EF is supported (I saw only NHD-4.3-480272MF, but it has no touch panel), and actually I didn't see any mention to the touch management.
Could anyone give me some hints?
Thank you in advance!
Claudio

Hello Claudio,
To evaluate this display you would need the following:
1x Display: Sunlight Readable CTP, Premium High Brightness CTP, or Standard CTP
1x NHD-4.3-480272MF-20 Controller Board
1x 20 POS FFC Cable
1x NHD-FFC20-1
1x Cable for NHDev Development Board
1x NHDev Development Board
Unfortunately the touch panel portion is not compatible with our development board at this time, however we do have example code that would help you evaluate the touch panel using your own MPU. To break out the CTP lines to 2.5mm Thru-Hole pins i would recommend the following:
1x Molex_52271-0679
1x NHD-COG14-36
To get the example code please email me at nhtech@newhavendisplay.com.0 -
Thank you Saurabh, the scenario now is clearer: the NHDev board can easily interface the TFT part of the NHD-4.3-480272EF, while the touch panel must be managed with an I2C port.
I have two questions in my mind:
- does the NHDev board have an I2C port available? Or do we need to connect the touch panel cable to our processor?
- in the last case, how can we communicate between our processor, that will retrieve the touch coordinates, and the NHDev board that sends the data to TFT display? Of course I'm thinking about the best way to get a full demo showing the TFT+touch interaction.
Thank you!

Hi Claudio,
The Dev board does not have an I2C port available.
You would need to connect this to your own controller.
You would need to be able to read the CTP independently of the display. Unfortunatley we do not have a full demonstration of the touch + display integration available at this time.0 -
Thank you Saurabh, we will think about developing our own electronics so to have full control.
