Trying to get NHD-C160100DiZ-FSW-FBW to work

I just bought this display (NHD-C160100DiZ-FSW-FBW) and I am trying to get it to work with either Arduino or AVR. I've looked at the datasheet's code (PAGE 11-14 http://www.newhavendisplay.com/specs/NHD-C160100DiZ-FSW-FBW.pdf), but not really sure how to get it to actually translate over to either AVR or Arduino code. Can someone point me in the right direction?
