Isolation From Display to Controller

Subject: Request for Suitable Isolation IC for NHD-0420D3Z-FL-GBW-V3 LCD Display
Dear Newhaven Team,
We are using the NHD-0420D3Z-FL-GBW-V3 LCD display, interfaced via I²C with a PIC18F86J60 controller. We would like to include isolation between the controller and the LCD display. Could you please recommend a suitable isolation IC for connecting the LCD and the controller with proper isolation?
In our circuit, the left side connection is from the controller, and the right side is from the display through a connector.
Kindly suggest a suitable isolation component that can be placed between these two sections.
Best regards,
Manoj M.

Hi Manoj,
I would suggest either using an optocoupler IC or a digital isolator IC. Both should work in this case. More over, I would also suggest taking a look at the ISO154x from TI. They made an IC for bidirectional I2C isolation specifically. See the pinout here:

Dear Newhaven Team,
As you mentioned earlier, we have modified the LCD circuit using the ISO1540 from Texas Instruments. Please review this circuit and let me know if any corrections are required. Also, kindly confirm whether this circuit provides a reliable connection between the LCD and the controller.
Thank you for your continued support.
Best regards,

Hi Manoj,
The circuit looks good to me. Regarding the reliability of the connection, I can't really say because I don't have the PCB design as a reference. If you are using proper interconnects for the LCD then I don't see any issue with the schematic.
