NHD-2.4-240320AF-CSXP - Error in datasheet or in production
AnsweredHello,
I developed PCB with NHD-2.4-240320AF-CSXP display on it and connected IM0 and IM2 pins to VDD and IM1 to GND to select 3-wire SPI communication (that is possible option according to datasheet). But it doesn't work because of short circuit - pin 33 (IM2) is internally connected to GND.
Please explain where is this information in datasheet? (https://newhavendisplay.com/content/specs/NHD-2.4-240320AF-CSXP.pdf)
It seems datasheet is incorrect or something in production of the display went wrong.

Hi Niksa,
The screen you have is an older version which is REV2A. There was an engineering change notification for the NHD-2-4-240320AF-CSXP display back in June 17, 2025. You can find more information here: https://support.newhavendisplay.com/hc/en-us/articles/32880668716695-06-17-25-NHD-2-4-240320AF-CSXP
In summary, the datasheet you are looking at is for the REV2B. The REV2A can only support up to 3-Wire SPI, but the REV2B added 4-Wire SPI capability. you can find the pinout differences here:

This table was taken from the product transition guide here:

Thank You for the explanation. Now everything is clear.
But this is quite big change and I think "REV2A" or "REV2B" should be added to Part Number and better noted in datasheet because those two versions are not pin to pin compatible (interchangeable). Also components distributors do not provide information which version they have, so we don't know which version we buy.

Thank you for the suggestion, Niksa. We'll keep that in mind.
