Voltage to display Vcc?

The pdf for the NHD-1.8-160128B display, in the connection diagram for SPi operation, shows Vcc (pin 2) connected directly to MPU (generally 3.3V).  Yet the pin listing has Vcc at 17V.  The integrated display board has some circuitry to the display from a 20-pin header which an inductor of some kind of inductor.  Is there more to proving the correct voltage and signal conditioning than is shown in the NHD-1.8-160128B pdf?
