Sealing sides of NHD-7.0-HDMI-HR-RSXP-CTU
What can I use to seal around the edges of a panel? I want to seal the space between the glass and the metal mount as well as sealing the metal itself against moisture as well as possible.
The background for this is that I used an NHD-7.0-HDMI-HR-RSXP-CTU panel in a project on my boat a couple of years ago. A bit of water must have gotten in around the edge of the display, which apparently wasn't sealed well enough. The metal mount corroded and some corrosion worked it's way up under the glass. The touch is not working only sporadically and never works where the corrosion is located. I ordered a new panel, but want to get this one sealed as well as possible to hopefully avoid this happening again.

Hi Josh,
While most adhesives are safe to use on the display glass, it is important to note that adhesives can be damaging to metal. Please keep this consideration in mind when selecting an adhesive.
Additionally, sealing the module with a gasket can also help to keep moisture out of the display unit.

Great, thanks! So as long as I find an adhesive/sealant that is specifically safe for glass and metal there are no issues with sealing that junction between the glass and the metal bracket all the way around?

Hi Josh,
We would still recommend that the sealant be applied to the front of the display glass, along with a rubber gasket for additional protection.
Applying any adhesive/sealant directly to the junction between the glass and metal, or around the flex cable can cause damage to the display if it seeps into the gaps between the glass and metal. So we would advise against applying a sealant to that region.
Please consider an electronics grade sealant, as they will not have risk of corrosion and should last longer.
