Interface to 3.6 volt MCU
I have an NHD-0216BZ-FL-YBW display which I want to control with a microcontroller. The microcontroller operates from 3.6 volts. I plan to ground thr R/W pin, so the display is always in Write mode. I'm concerned about the DB4 - DB7 pins; if the driver chip in the display pulls up to +5 volts, this could potentially damage the microcontroller. Is this the case?
The driver datasheet isn't very clear on this point. I can add level-shifting circuitry if needed, but would prefer not to.
Thanks
Bob

That display should not be powered with less than 4.7V as indicated in the spec. This goes for VDD and also the logic levels. As for the data lines, the voltage is determined by the microcontroller when writing to the display only.
