Question about NHD -o220jz-fsw fsb
Hi. I'm using one of the aforementioned displays to replace an hd 44780 driven display. In the specs it says it can be either serial or parallel.. Out of the box which mode is it in and to get it to work to replace a 44780 display, what must I do. Currently it displays a few characters and locks the operating system of the machine up. When unplugged, the machine can operate (indicators and such will function). Thanks for any help!

That display does not have a serial interface option. The mode it comes in is parallel (6800 mode). You shouldn't need to do anything for it to work with your HD44780 (customers and myself have used our character displays with HD44780 libraries and they have worked fine), but sometimes users may need to adjust some of the timing in your software since there are some minor timing differences between the 2 controllers. Please refer to the controller datasheet for the timing requirements that need to be met, and verify them with your system.
