New NHD-4.3-480272FT-CTXL-CTP display does not respond to SPI messages

Hello all,
I hope someone can give me some help. I have a new board, I connect VDD, GND, pull up /PD(pin 8 on 20 pin IDC box header), leave /INT floating, and connect SCK,MISO,MOSI,/CS.
I apply 3.3vdc to pin 1.
I notice zero changes; lcd is not lit, and when I try and communicate with the FT81, there is no response.

Any suggestions appreciated.

  Hi jbuse,
  
  Please try applying power to Pins 17-18 of the display for activating the backlight LEDs for the display along with Pins 19-20 for GND.
  Any activity occurring on the LCD will likely not be noticeable without power being applied for the backlight LEDs.
