VFD: Vacuum Fluorescent Display
These displays use a self-emitting fluorescent light which allows the technology to handle extreme cold and hot temperatures. They are high contrast displays that can demonstrate multi-segment alphanumeric characters, 7-segment numerals or a dot matrix pattern. VFDs are typically bright, colored green and will perform well in low lighting or direct sunlight environments.
Dot Matrix VFDs
Dot matrix VFDs are typically used to display upper and lower case text, numerical information and limited symbols. Typical applications are measurement, scales, medical, vending machines, point-of-sales registers and industrial instrumentations.
Alphanumeric VFD displays are used to display upper and lower case text and numbers. Typical applications are scales, test and measurement, vending machines, and gaming machines.
